July 13, 2007 (Azau, Russia) The day before his 11th birthday, Jordan Romero of Big Bear, Calif., moved another step closer to his goal of becoming the youngest person to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents. On July 11, Jordan and his family successfully reached the top of Europe¹s highest peak, 18,498-foot Mt. Elbrus.

Matthew won 3 gold medals and a silver at the United States Lifesaving Association South East Regional Championships.

At the USLA National Championships he won the gold medal in the board paddle and the silver medal in the 1 kilometer beach run.
